We love to take a cruise during our vacations, gliding through the high seas in a ship large enough to not only hold the people, but also provide us with endless amounts of entertainment. We know we will be enjoying everything from the pools, to the spas to the casinos and restaurants and expect to dance the night away. What we don’t expect is for our drinks to be served by robots, to experience skydiving at sea or to have whole rooms transforming from entertainment arenas during the day into inspiring eateries at night.
On November 10, 2014, the Royal Caribbean Cruises announced a new addition to their fleet now in New Jersey harbours. Known as Quantum of the Seas, this amazingly high-tech ‘smart ship’ combines traditional cruise activities with the savviest of technologies.
This smart ship offers the “the blazing‑fast” wireless Internet with “unprecedented bandwidth”, RFID WOWbands for navigating the ship and RFID luggage tags which allow guests to track luggage in real time through smartphones.
The iFly skydiving simulator lets you experience the exhilaration of skydiving.
The world’s first robotic bartenders serve at Bionic Bar.
The North Star capsule elevates you both physically and emotionally, revealing 360-degree views.
A downloadable app, Royal iQ, gives guests the power to manage every detail of their vacation during an unforgettable cruise adventure. And of course, if the new bits are made to amaze, it should meet every taste, which means the inclusion of bumper cars, a circus school with flying trapeze and roller skating inside the largest indoor active space at sea, SeaPlex.
The Wonderland restaurant is one of 18 restaurants on the ship; it offers Alice in Wonderland themed dining experience.
Quantum of the Seas features the 40-foot-long FlowRider surf simulator.

The new smart system on this cruise ship is bound to really awe the masses, with an upgrade added to every facet of the experience. Between the shopping, the entertainment that meshes digital technology with traditional musical performances, the robobar and virtual balcony staterooms showing you in real-time what you would have seen from a real balcony, technogym equipment and the very first wave pool at sea, this is one ship that most definitely worth the buck!
