You may not be able to visit all 50 in your lifetime, or perhaps you’ll take the year off to travel to every single destination on this list, but either way, it’s good to know which attractions draw in the biggest crowds from around the world, whether its a Forbidden City or a Turkish Bazaar, a Parisian theme park or a street with a whole century of history. The research was conducted by Travel + Leisure by gathering recent data supplied by the attractions themselves or from government agencies, industry reports, and reputable media outlets, mostly from 2013. Attractions without ticket sales gave best estimates. There are 15 theme parks that have made it into the list, considering the fact that people simply love to have fun, while no British attractions made the cut. Even Rome’s grandest attraction of all, the Colosseum, didn’t make it into the top 50, boasting only about 5.1 million visitors when compared with Turkey’s Grand Bazaar which came first with about 91.25 million visitors.

It appears that international tourism is up by about 5%, which is huge for the world’s economy. while China is the second largest supplier of outbound tourists, Russia comes 5th on that list and has increased travel spending by 26%.
