The Marvellous Map of Great British Place Names, New Map Reveals Silliest Place Names in Britain
The research for the map took months and thousands of miles were travelled to be able to prepare this rather intriguing prank of a Christmas gift. It is perfectly outlandish and the modern map, as well as the classic if you’re into that, make for great posters for your walls. Whenever you need a good laugh, just check out these strange, funny, silly and sometimes perfectly rude names and it will get you cracking. The map costs only £22.

Names you can expect to find on the map include:

  1. Spithead (sounds shiny!)
  2. Robin hood’s Butts (Apparently his backside was worth naming a place after)
  3. Burnt Bottom (Ouch! Must have hurt!)
  4. Upton Cow Down (Now this just sounds like the cow lost his way)
  5. Shitterton (Not sure how this place will smell…)
  6. Broadslap (You might want to make sure there are no broads actually getting slapped here)
  7. Hairy Graig (Graig really must have been like a rig to get the place named after him!)
  8. Be Thankful (it’s good to be reminded of it on a daily basis actually)
  9. The Cock of Arran (sounds like a Lord of the Rings parody place)
  10. The Bastard (who?? Interesting name to say the least)
  11. Bladda (Sounds like someone’s saying bladder in a Jamaican accent)
  12. Carbrain (We can definitely attest to seeing some of those around)
  13. Tiptoe (Does everyone walk on tiptoe here?)
  14. Beer/Beer Door (We can safely say here’s where the drunkest Brits live)
  15. Cockshutt-cum-Petorri (The name just speaks for itself…)
