From the streets of New York to the Metropolis of Tokyo, unisex dogtags are now available to collect, marking each city you’ve visited or just reminding you of places you want to visit in the world. There are over 120 locations from 32 different countries that one can get maps of, as they are both unique as wearable accessories and work as functional maps themselves. Using OpenStreetMap, AMINIMAL Studio has created a rather interesting new jewelry collection Urban Gridded Dogtags that has been looking for funding through a Kickstarter campaign where a $5,000 goal has already been stretched and collected $28,737. That means quite a few cities have been unlocked, including some Brazilian locations. Whereas the initial unlocks were for US cities, the dogtags now have the underlying street networks of global spaces cut into the grid of stainless steel.

This is a unique design and most certainly a memorable present should you follow the advice of the creators and buy a piece for your loved ones. It appears there have been those who have ordered presents for their girlfriends and siblings, as reminders of the places they have been together. Since it comes in stainless steel, black enamel and gold plated designs, as well as in both pendants and dogtags, there are a wide array of choices one can make when it comes to deciding on which would make the best present to throw into the stockings over the fireplace. It’s cute, it’s funky, and most of all, it’s a functional piece of art that one can use to navigate the streets in a given city. Here’s hoping that one day they will be able to cater to most of the world’s countries’ top cities, meaning that no one is left out of luck.
