There’s always something rather innovative in the food industry appearing out of nowhere. We are forevermore being treated to the most astonishing new concepts through which we get to enjoy our eating experience. A rollercoaster restaurant seems to be one such innovation that has been sweeping through the Eastern and Western worlds with particular speed. Considering the fact that the Abu Dhabi branch just opened in November, it would be safe to say that this amazing new style of restaurant experience will be taking the world by storm.
The first of its kind, 2007 saw the opening of the original unique rollercoaster restaurant, wherein the mission was to transport food and beverages on rail tracks at ‘s Baggers in Nürnberg, Germany. This was followed by one in Hamburg, in Europa-Park, Dresden, finally entering the Middle East earlier this ear with the smallest of its chains and finishing off 2014 with the world’s largest rollercoaster restaurant. It has officially been named ROGO’S – the rollercoaster restaurant.
With 360 seats, ROGO’s caters to a huge number of visitors. It is located in Yas Mall on Yas Island, which is also home to the famous indoor theme park Ferrari World, and the Yas Marina Formula 1 Grand Prix circuit. The 2 story restaurant boasts 2 transport conveyors from the kitchen to the dispatch area, 30 rollercoaster tracks, 3 lift systems, 1 double loop, 1 parallel double loop, and ‘the Tornado’, a 12 meter high spiral track, which is the main attraction.
Guests place their orders using tablet computers and then watch how their meals and drinks travel along a network of rollecoaster tracks throughout the restaurant and get delivered straight to their table. Check out this video from ‘s Baggers to have an idea how the dishes make their journey:
“Each table has its own individually designed rollercoaster track and a unique silent delivery system that thrills diners as they get to watch their food make a gravity-defying 360-degree journey to their table. Our state-of-the-art technology makes dining fun as it transports both cold and hot food and drinks along the multi-spiral, double loop and tornado tracks,” explained Jessica Wadih Al-Absi, the Chairman & CEO of Group JWA that operates the RollercoasterRestaurant® company.
It certainly makes for an amazing attraction to the region, even if one only gets a taste of the fun atmosphere one in their lifetime. The destination is certainly worth the effort to get to it when you visit Abu Dhabi.
